Savannah Wildlife!

Image
One of the things that I enjoy most about the southern coast is the wildlife, as seen in my Sapelo posts.  The warm climate is conducive to a wide variety of species and it is always fun to see what I can find.  I think the best locations for finding wildlife aren't always places I have my camera readily available but I've gotten a few snapshots over the years! But first...and I DO count this as wildlife...are a couple of pictures of the pups.  I've been playing more with my camera and Photoshop and took a couple that were at least popular on Facebook!  Haha!  Here! The old man, Barghest   Corvus looking intense-my most popular social media picture Watching and learning from big bro Trying to play with the big dogs but just getting hit with sticks! So Nyx, the new puppy, is fitting in really well.  As she comes into her own she is becoming much more full of herself-exactly what I expect in a husky!  And feisty.  You k...

Savannah: Fabulous Views and Food!

Savannah is a second home to me.  I've been traveling there for almost two decades and though it is hardly the most exotic destination, there is a connection that has grown from familiarity and love of the low country.   One of my favorite places to stay is the River Street Inn (when the dogs aren't along, of course) right on River Street.   It is an absolute must to have a room with a balcony overlooking the river and the first thing I do after dropping my suitcase is check out the view.  I love being part of everything while still being removed.  It's great standing on the balcony watching the crowds, the artists, and the musicians along the river walk.  In fact, as I opened the doors this trip I was greeted by a fairly decent rendition of Tom Petty's "Yer So Bad".  Nice. One of the many amazing views that have greeted me over the years!  Hot Georgia days, puffy summer clouds, coastal breezes, and...cargo ships!  Love ...

Sapelo Island, Part III

Image
I know today is Thursday but I'm really anxious to get the last of my Sapelo pictures up so I can begin the sprawling series of posts that will cover Savannah! I'll begin with the evening of our second day and move into the last day and the ferry trip back to the mainland. After the morning trip to explore the southern end of the island, we rested up a bit and set back out in the late afternoon.  Rather than taking the bikes we chose to walk because somebody (as in, NOT me) was too sore and tired to ride.  So we walked.  Okay, fine by me, I walk all the time.  In fact, it has become blatantly obvious to me that my definition of "walking distance" comes nowhere near a normal person's definition.  Five miles and under = walking distance in my mind.   Anyway.  So we set out to explore more of the northern and the western part of the island.  We started out and the first thing we came upon was this scene:   What you don...
